27 July 2013
George McIrvine , Branch Secretary of UNISON Police staff Scotland, who has been campaigning against the backfilling of civilian police posts, has responded to the posting online of an advert seeking to recruit police sergeants into control rooms across Scotland.
“The branch has been contacted by very many of its members across Scotland expressing their deep concern about this advert.font-family:"Trebuchet MS""> “ When an advert to recruit police sergeants into control rooms across Scotland is circulated internally earlier in the month, it indicates to them that their jobs as control room supervisors are under real threat .
“ This branch formally raised with Police Scotland last Wednesday these concerns and the grounds behind this decision.
“ The response from Police Scotland was that they were unaware of the actual advert and would reply to us directly in due course.”
