Jenny Marra welcomes Abertay University Computer Games Competition
20 January 2012
Jenny Marra MSP, Vice Convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Cross Party Group on Computer Games, has today lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament welcoming the announcement by Abertay University of a £100,000 competition for small businesses to develop new computer games technology.
The competition offers up to £25,000 of the £100,000 to several small and start-up companies that develop the best prototype technology across various categories, and provides the winning business with mentoring support from firms already established in the computer games industry.
Speaking on news of the competition, Ms Marra said:
"I welcome this competition from Abertay University, which continues to contribute significantly to the development of computer games technology.
"In Dundee, the computer games industry is an important part of our local economy, and I am certain this fund will contribute in the interest it will generate.
"The contest offers a fantastic opportunity for fledgling companies to establish themselves in Scotland’s flourishing computer games industry, and I look forward to working with these companies in my role as vice convenor of the cross party group on video games in the Scottish Parliament."
