Jenny Marra : Transport Minister challenged to experience the “Tay Tax”
30 January 2013
Jenny Marra MSP has challenged the Minister for Transport Keith Brown to leave the Ministerial car at home and beat the “Tay Tax” when he visits Dundee on Thursday.
“Currently, Dundee falls outside the subsidised zone meaning increased fairs for commuters in and out of the City, " Jenny said.
“Keith Brown is the Minister responsible for Dundonians paying more to travel by train than commuters in the rest of Scotland.
“I am asking Keith Brown to travel by train to Dundee for his appointment on Thursday and experience the Tay Tax for himself.
“Hard pressed commuters are paying more than their fair share and the Minister should sort this out.
“Why shouldn’t Dundee be in the subsidised zone?
“If we are to attract businesses to the City then we need our fair share of the national rail subsidy.
“I hope Keith Brown will agree to take the train to Dundee on Thursday.”
