Jim McGovern welcomes railway cash boost
5 April 2012
Dundee West MP Jim McGovern today welcomed the £30m pound cash injection into Scotland’s railway stations.
Mr McGovern has been a long running campaigner to see improvements made to Dundee’s railway station.
He most recently raised the issue at Dundee’s Economic Summit on March 29th 2012.
Jim McGovern said;
“I am delighted that this funding has become available for Scotland’s railway stations. It is essential for the future of Scotland and Dundee that our transport infrastructure is up to date.”
“Dundee must be a prime candidate for support given the great need there is for the station to be renovated.”
Mr McGovern concluded,
“As the waterfront project takes shape, and tourists start arriving in Dundee, we need a railway station that sends out the right message to our visitors. For that reason I sincerely hope that Dundee’s railway station receives much needed investment from this new fund.”
