Jim McGovern raises transport concerns at Dundee Economic Summit
29 March 2012
Dundee West MP Jim McGovern attended today’s Dundee Economic Summit that sought to highlight and discuss the future economic development of the city.
Mr McGovern raised concerns that the transport infrastructure, including the facilities at the airport and train station, would need to be expanded to effectively deal with the development of the city’s waterfront.
Jim McGovern said;
“I am as keen as anyone to see Dundee move forward with the fantastic waterfront development and the opening of the V&A. “
“It must be recognised however that questions are continuingly raised about the facilities at the airport, train and bus stations, and the whole of the transport infrastructure itself.”
“That is why I put the question to the panel about what the future holds for Dundee airport and what improvements we will see for the train station.”
“Given the magnitude of the development of the waterfront surely they must ensure that there is at least a bus stance if not a bus station included in the plans.”
Mr McGovern concluded;
“I would like to congratulation all concerned with the organisation of the summit, and I hope it will enable us to take Dundee forward to a prosperous future.”
