Nelson Mandela

A few years ago holidaying in South Africa, I visited Robben Island Prison and saw the conditions in which Nelson Mandela was help captive.

Seeing the place and hearing the way individuals were treated make it all the more remarkable the Nelson Mandela had so much forgiveness for his captors.

I could not help but notice the respect his fellow countryman had for him, anyone who made reference to him always spoke of “Mr Mandela “.

They never at any time just used  his first name.

He was held in much higher regard.

He will be sadly missed but never forgotten as a world statesman.
