Jobs for Dundee : More determination needed from both UK and Scottish Governments

The latest Job Seekers Allowance claimant count figures (for June 2014) show that the numbers in Dundee rose, and that the city, with a JSA claimant rate of 4.4 %, has a higher percentage claimant rate than Glasgow of 4.1%.

 

In Dundee , between May and June the numbers rose from 4,179 to 4,314.

Responding to these latest Job Seekers Allowance claimant count figures , Councillor Lesley Brennan, said :

 

“There needs to be greater determination from both UK and Scottish Governments to create a city economy of sustained opportunity that leaves no area left behind.

 

"We need higher growth and productivity, more investment in the knowledge economy, and in building new houses.

 

“We need a return to the system that rewards those who work hard with better paid wages. “
